A True Transformation

After leaving a program for human trafficking survivors, Kara found herself slipping back into a lifestyle that was unhealthy and far from what she desired. Despite her past experiences in Child Protective Services and various programs, she was hesitant to seek help again due to fear and trauma.

However, her time at Basin Dream Center transformed her life, offering hope, freedom, and a sense of family. Learning to budget inspired her, and she came to value the community’s family-style activities. Unfortunately, despite this support, Kara left the program prematurely and found herself pregnant and once again a victim of sexual assault.

“I know they will always be there for me,
no matter what, even when I make mistakes.” – Kara

Basin Dream Center welcomed her back as their first off-campus resident, providing crucial assistance in securing housing, food stamps, and even organizing a baby shower for her. They gifted her with her first Christmas tree and furnished her new apartment. Through case management services, Kara was enrolled in college and received the help she needed to thrive academically. In time, she earned her own car.

Today, Kara lives independently with her daughter and remains actively engaged in family dinners and holiday celebrations at Basin Dream Center. She knows the support she received will always be there for her, no matter the mistakes she may make along the way
